November 16, 1940. Original newspaper caption: “This view looking south towards the Civic Center and City Hall, shows the path of the proposed roadway [Pasadena Freeway]. An overpass over part of the Figueroa street roadway will carry traffic bound for the Civic Center into Castelar street, which will be widened. The super-highway will carry traffic through Los Angeles without a stop.”
