Original newspaper caption: “A $13,000,000 highway slashing straight through downtown Los Angeles from Pasadena to the harbor is under way today, and above is shown where the next link will be forged. A new bridge over the Los Angeles river will be built to carry south-bound traffic from the recently-completed Arroyo Seco Parkway at Riverside drive.”
