Cahuenga Pass, Hollywood Freeway between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley with Red Car Line going down the center median. ca. 1947. As the automobile grew in popularity, the Red Cars slowly were dismantled. This line was eliminated in the early 1950s. Ironically, the metropolitan transit authorities are now spending millions of dollars to build a subway that will take people in these same directions.
