Opening Day Festivities. October 14, 1993, looking East from Garfield Blvd. After decades of planning, litigation, and social change, Governor Pete Wilson officially opened I-105. In attendance that day were federal, state, and local officials, including former Congressman Glenn Anderson, for whom the freeway is officially named. Also taking part were members of the community and those who had benefited from the numerous programs which came about as a result of the Final Consent Decree.
